The Army Welfare Education Society (AWES) has released the notification for the Online Screening Test (OST) 2024, which is a mandatory exam for candidates aspiring to become teachers in Army Public Schools across India.
The AWES OST 2024 Application Form will be accepted online, with registration starting on 10 September 2024 and closing on 25 October 2024. Aspiring candidates must ensure they meet the required educational qualifications and apply before the deadline through the official website www.awesindia.com.
The test will be conducted on 23, 24, and 25 November 2024, and is open to applicants for Post Graduate Teacher (PGT), Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT), and Primary Teacher (PRT) positions.

Educational Qualification Required
- PGT: A Post-Graduate degree with a minimum of 50% marks, along with a B.Ed. qualification.
- TGT: A Graduate degree with at least 50% marks and a B.Ed. degree.
- PRT: Graduation with 50% marks and a two-year D.El.Ed./B.El.Ed.. Alternatively, candidates with a B.Ed. degree can also apply, provided they complete a six-month PDPET/Bridge Course within two years of recruitment.
Candidates must ensure they meet these eligibility criteria before registering for the OST.
Age Limit
- Fresh Candidates: Must be below 40 years as of 1st April 2024.
- Experienced Candidates: Up to 57 years, with at least 5 years of teaching experience in the last 10 years.

The number of teaching positions available will vary across Army Public Schools and will be announced by the respective school management through local advertisements or the school website.
Selection Process
- Online Screening Test (OST):
- Conducted centrally across multiple test centers in India.
- The exam will have 200 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) for a total of 200 marks.
- Each correct answer will be awarded 1 mark, while 0.25 marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer.
- Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for interviews by a Central Selection Board (CSB) for regular posts and by a Local Selection Board (LSB) for fixed-term posts.
- Evaluation of Teaching Skills and Computer Proficiency: For certain subjects, like languages, candidates will also have to complete a written test that includes essay writing and comprehension.
